Guest Post: “Riches,” by Marilee

It’s time again for another extra special treat!  Enjoy this piece from a very special guest writer who is kinda close to my heart.

Riches

A cup of coffee that tastes just right

A baby’s cuddle in the night

A much needed encouraging word from a friend

A job seen through from beginning to end

The welcome smell of fresh baked bread

That book I’ve put off reading’s now read

Knowing all the words to the song

Checking off a task that took so long

The happy sound of children at play

A pink sunset at the end of the day

A campfire with marshmallows to roast

Butter and salt on my toast

Learning to do something entirely new

Ice cream with toppings-just a few

When a freshly lit candle’s smell reaches my nose

When the throw blanket covers all the way to my toes

Evening grass under my bare feet

Great conversations after we eat

The sound of believers singing worship together

A long hug from the one I vowed to stay with forever

One who savors God’s simple gifts

And to Him humble praise she lifts

Is one who has a mindset switch

And finds that she is truly rich
